    Awesome! I love going to angel fire with my family. Our favorite runs are boulder dash and hungry hippo, but we also did mini boogie, which is the hardest one that we have done, because we are not very pro 😂

    Came here to see if the Baldwin Loop was any better than when I last rode it about 15-20 years ago. It was completely overgrown back then, much like what you experienced. For our ride, it was also full of ticks, so when we finally got back to the road, the two of us looked like mostly hairless monkeys grooming each other. That was the ride where I learned to put my bike up on the back wheel and push through the weeds ahead of me. Looks like there are other comments about the overgrown condition and stinging nettles on the MTB Project "Best of..." page as well. I personally prefer the "Wilder Ranch Singletrack Loops," and then finish with a ride out to the Ohlone Bluffs and have a break on one of the beaches (Fern Grotto/Sand Plant/Strawberry).

    Thinking about it I think you put the Lock Washers on the wrong side, see the way your doing simply has no effect on the Chainring's alignment, NONE, now if you placed said Lock Washers on the other side of the arm it would've shifted the alignment! O.o

    I'm not going to say running a 1x8 is a stupid idea, nor am I going to blast you for running it. 2 factors I would ask about your decision, 1 will you have enough gearing to ride what you ride? And, 2) will you have fun on it and enjoy the ride? If yes to both....enjoy and ride your heart out bud. It's all about what makes you confortable.

    What up man! Phil from Albuquerque here. Came across your channel watching Mo & Hannah at Anglefire when you ran into them. I currently only have one bike (Marin Alpine 7 with sone of upgrades), an enduro bike which I love. I just simply don't have a lot of $ to buy multiple bikes like some people. But I do long rides and big climbs and descents with it. It's heavy so I know it slows me a little on my XC and big climb days. Later this year debating a lighter weight Trail Bike or Hardtail. I have days where I do Enduro and do 3-5 bike park days a year. But I also have days where I just wana be more mellow and do xc and get solid miles. Kinda just waiting until I see a good sale or bike that's between $1,000-2,500). I've already experienced Polygon and Marin. Great bikes, capable bikes for great prices but I'm open to change. Any thoughts or ideas? P.S. Glorietta is so much fun! I'm finally getting comfortable on Chili Dog where I don't have to stop, the one rock garden is the only thing that I'm super cautious with and finally made it down Jagged Axe (3rd time) without getting off the other day. I don't take those trails lightly though. Haha. Cheers man!

    • @that_squires_guy
      @that_squires_guy 3 місяці тому

      Hey Phil! I’m so stoked you found me! Enduro bikes are sick, but they can certainly be too much bike for the smaller stuff. You mention you have a Marin Alpine 7 which is funny because I’ve recently been riding a Marin Rift Zone 2 as my main bike and I LOVE it! The Rift Zone is a much more trail friendly and the 2 is affordable and great for mellower trail days; it also only costs $2,400. You should check out the Canyon Neuron and Trek Top Fuel. They seem to pack a lot of value in their bikes. I hope this helps and I could probably think of more to check out but I’m brain dead at the moment. 😂 thanks for commenting!

      i don’t buy it for a minute. you’ve done portal.. that’s way more exposed. i think if you just ride hangover on fresh legs (from the parking lot) you’ll have the time of your life. you already did all the hard parts.

    • @that_squires_guy
      @that_squires_guy 4 місяці тому

      You may be right, but the first time I did it was the same. I think the formula would be to ride fresh with some friends. I know I’d do better then. That’s how I completed white line a couple years ago. Also, somehow portal was way less scary. I think it was because I willingly got off at the parts I knew had claimed lives. Aside from that, it was good. The exposed part is also a lot shorter on portal. Either way, I’m not going to ride this alone ever again.
